    The Master of Science in Business and Economics at SKEMA is a one year program designed to equip you with a solid basis in economic analytical skills as well as specialized knowledge in business strategies, and finance. Its objective is to impart knowledge in modern economic theory and empirical methods that are useful to professionals in their work.  

    You will learn fundamental subjects such as macroeconomics, microeconomics, statistics, econometrics, and some more specific ones, such as industrial organization, finance, international economics, and economics of knowledge. In addition, you can choose elective courses form in International Finance, Management, or International Business.  

    The program is thought to give you ample exposure to current economic problems and their solutions. Firms operate in a more globalized economy; therefore they have greater needs of well trained people who have a deep understanding of the complex business and financial relationships.  The MSc. in Business and Finance at SKEMA provides you with these expertises. 

    The main objective of the program is to teach you how to apply key economic principles to understand and solve practical business problems in a range of fields, including banking, telecommunication, intellectual property rights, energy, and commerce. A particular emphasis will be given to the management of knowledge as a way to succeed in the chosen carrier. 

    The SKEMA MSc in Business and Economics is designed for students who have an excellent record in majors such as Economic, Finance or Business Administrations. Students trained in quantitative discipline, such Mathematics, Statistics, Science, and Engineering are also encouraged to apply.  

    Career opportunities: Graduates can expect to find employment in a wide range of occupations such as: Business analysts and consultants; project analysts, industry economists in government and private sector organizations; policy advisors; 

    OFCE (Sciences-po): The courses are taught by recognized faculty publishing in top academic journals.  The program is offered in partnership with OFCE of Sciences Po, Paris. The OFCE is both a university research centre and an institution for forecasting and evaluating public policies. It brings together over 40 French and international researchers, including several internationally renowned research fellows and three Nobel Prize laureates. The OFCE scholars investigate the main fields of theoretical and empirical research (macroeconomic theory, growth, social welfare systems, taxation, job policies, European construction, competition, regulations, industrial policy, globalization, etc.). They also inform policy makers about social and economic issues, such as the reform of the French pension system, the bailing out of Greece, the competitiveness of firms, the challenges and opportunities of free trade, or the containment of the public debt.

    Curriculum

    Mandatory classes: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Introduction to Econometrics, Quantitative Methods, Advanced Microeconomics, Advanced Econometrics, Macroeconomics of Innovation, Industrial Organization, International Economics, Network Economics

    Elective classes: Organizational Behavior, Organizational Design, Financial Analysis, Finance markets, International Financial Economics, Derivative Instruments, Fixed Income, Portfolio Management, Strategic choices and Internationalization, International Finance, Strategic  Innovation, Sustainability and eco-design, European Legal System and regulation

    Admission criteria:
    Students who wish to be eligible for an MSc programme must fulfill, at a minimum, the following requirements:  A four year degree or equivalent, proficiency in English (as defined by TOEFL scores).

    Applicants are not required to have prior training in Economics. However, students who have already a good background in Economics, Statistics and Econometrics can request to the director of the Master to replace one or more compulsory courses with those offered by other SKEMA Master
