MS Environmental Policy, Risk and Management

  • Stage 5-to-6 month In-Company Training Course in either Italy or France
  • Dirigé à Candidates must be graduated in Engineering or have successfully completed 5 or 6 years of university studies (Masters of Engineering or Master of Sciences or equivalent diploma, i.e. DEA, DESS or DNM for French Diploma). Candidates with 4 years of successful university studies (Bachelor of Sciences or Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent diploma, i.e., Maîtrise ou M1 for French Diploma) and with 3 years of experience may also qualify. Applications are invited from those of any nationality with equivalent levels of education. Participants are required to have a satisfactory level in English. This can be confirmed by TOEIC score or on interview. Specific knowledge concerning Environment is not a prerequisite : this is a program recognising competence in a new field, and not a specialisation in a domain of existing competence. However fundamentals in Mechanical, Civil or Environmental Engineering are required.

  • Contenu The program has been organised as follows :

          -    320 hours of foundation teaching in modular form. This is covered during the first six months and deals with Environment contexts, Environment effects, Economics and Management as well as Industrial and Natural Risks. The first three months (mid-September to mid-December) are held at INSA de Lyon and the second three months (January to end-March) at the Polytechnic University de Bari. For both periods teachers are French or Italian. Each module lasts two weeks. The first module has a teacher present full-time, the second is based on an individual work program with video-conference communication for teacher-assistance. A program of regular visits to Industrial sites such as Household-Waste Incineration Plants, Sewage Farms, etc. will operate during this period.

          -    the second period consists of a 5-to-6 month In-Company Training Course in either Italy or France. This leads up to the presentation of a written  Professional Thesis and a viva (oral examination) before a Jury, to assess its value. Each participant has two tutors, one French and one Italian, and one additional tutor for Industrial matters. Participants appear before a Jury comprising representatives from their In-Company Host and teachers from the two Institutes. The Jury appearances take place in France or in Italy and are accompanied by video-conferencing from one country to the other.
